Selling Gift Cards

What are gift cards?

Gift cards let your customers buy store credit that recipients can redeem online. Cards can be sent to anyone by email and claimed with a unique code.

Turning on gift cards

  1. Go to Apps → Gift Cards in your dashboard.

  2. Enable the feature for your store.

  3. Choose the values you want to offer (e.g. $25, $50, $100, custom amount).

  4. Pick or upload the card designs you'd like to make available.

How customers buy a gift card

From your storefront, customers can:

  1. Tap Gift Cards from the footer or menu.

  2. Choose an amount and a card design.

  3. Enter the recipient's name and email and add a personal message.

  4. Pay by card. The recipient receives an email with a link to claim the gift.

How recipients claim a card

The recipient clicks the link in their email, signs in, and is shown a one-time PIN. The card is added to their account so they can use it on a future order.

Issuing a gift card at the counter

If a customer wants to buy a card in person, your staff can issue one from the merchant app's Gift Cards tab. The PIN is shown once on screen so it can be written on a physical card or texted to the customer.

Managing gift cards

From the dashboard you can:

  • Search for any card by code, recipient, or buyer.

  • Adjust the balance manually if needed.

  • Void a card if it was issued by mistake or reported lost.

  • Export a CSV of all cards for accounting.

Expiry

Gift cards are valid for at least three years from the date of purchase, in line with Australian Consumer Law. You can set a longer expiry if you wish.

Tips

  • Gift cards are a great upsell around festive times of year — promote them in a storefront banner.

  • Different card designs help match seasonal occasions like birthdays, Christmas, and Mother's Day.

  • Cards bought online and cards issued at the counter all show up in the same management screen, so reconciliation stays simple.
