What is Tonight's Cook?
Tonight's Cook is a small personal touch on the order tracking screen. When a customer is waiting for their order, they see a short message and photo of the staff member preparing their food — for example, "Tonight's cook is Sam. Sam has been with us for five years and loves making your favourite curry."
It turns the wait into a moment of connection between your kitchen and your customer, and reminds people there are real humans behind their meal.
How it works
You set up a list of kitchen staff profiles — each with a name, a photo and a short bio. Each shift, you assign one of them as Tonight's Cook. Customers tracking an order during that shift see that profile on their tracking screen.
Creating staff profiles
Open your Dashboard.
Go to the Experiential section.
Open Kitchen Staff Profiles.
Add a new profile with the staff member's name, photo and a friendly one or two sentence bio.
Save. Repeat for each cook you want in the rotation.
You can edit or remove profiles at any time. Photos work best when they are clear, well-lit headshots — the kind of photo a regular customer would smile at.
Assigning Tonight's Cook
From the Experiential section, open the Tonight's Staff setting.
Choose the staff member who is on shift tonight.
Save.
That profile will appear on the order tracking page until you change it. Many restaurants make this a small ritual at the start of each shift.
Where customers see it
The profile appears on the customer's order tracking screen — the page they open after placing an order. It sits alongside the live status of their order, so they see it while they are waiting.
Tips
Ask each staff member what they would like written about them. Honest, specific bios feel warmer than generic ones.
Keep bios short. One or two sentences is enough.
Rotate the assignment so different cooks get the spotlight.
If you do not assign anyone, the section is simply hidden — there is no broken or empty state for customers to see.
