Storefront Language Picker

What is the language picker?

The language picker lets you choose the language of your storefront's buttons, headings, cart, checkout flow and system messages. Spatula currently supports English (Australia), French, Spanish and German. Pick the language that best suits your customers and the storefront chrome will appear in that language for everyone who visits.

Important: menu content stays as you wrote it

The language picker only changes the storefront's built-in text — for example, words like 'Add to Cart', 'Delivery' or 'Place Order'. Your menu item names, descriptions, modifiers, deal names, allergens and ingredients always appear exactly as you typed them. So a French storefront with menu items written in English will show English item names alongside French buttons.

Choosing your storefront language

  1. Open Settings in your dashboard.

  2. Go to My Store.

  3. Find the Language option in the General section.

  4. Pick the language you want.

  5. Save your changes.

The change applies straight away. Refresh your storefront to see it.

Tips

  • Pick the language most of your customers speak. Many will speak more than one, but the storefront only displays one at a time.

  • If you operate in a multilingual area, make sure your menu names are written so they are still understandable to anyone who reads the storefront in your chosen language.

  • Notification SMS and email content are not currently translated by the language picker — they are sent in English at this time.
