What is a public coupon?
Most coupons are private — customers need a code to redeem them. A public coupon is different: it appears automatically at checkout for every customer, with the discount applied with one tap. It's a great way to run a clearly visible promotion like Free delivery on orders over $40.
What customers see
At the coupon step of checkout, public coupons appear in a list with a name, a short description, and an Apply button. Customers don't need to know or remember a code. Only one coupon can be applied at a time, so customers pick the offer that suits them best.
How to make a coupon public
Open the dashboard and go to Coupons.
Create a new coupon or open an existing one.
Set the discount, conditions, and expiry as usual.
Toggle Show on storefront on.
Save.
When to use public coupons
Headline offers you want every visitor to see, like $5 off your first order.
Limited-time promotions that need to drive volume.
Free delivery thresholds presented as a visible offer.
Tips
Don't make every coupon public. Keep your strongest offers private for marketing campaigns.
Make sure your usage limits are set — public coupons can drive a lot of redemptions quickly.
Use a clear, short name. Free delivery $40+ works better than DEL40FREE.
