Auto-Accepting New Orders

Written by Dazza

What this is

When a new order arrives, the merchant app shows a full-screen takeover so staff can confirm it. If no one responds within a short countdown, the order is accepted automatically — handy during busy lunch and dinner rushes when staff might miss the prompt.

How it works

  1. A new order pops up on the merchant app with a sound alert.

  2. The takeover screen shows the items, prep time options, and customer details.

  3. A countdown begins. If a staff member taps a prep time before the countdown ends, the order is accepted with that prep time.

  4. If no one taps in time, the order auto-accepts using the store's default prep time.

Setting your default prep time

Open the merchant app settings and adjust the default prep times for pickup and delivery. This is the time used when an order auto-accepts. You can also set different defaults for busy periods — see Preparation Time Settings for details.

Tips

  • Set defaults that match a realistic worst case during a busy shift, not your best-case prep time.

  • Even with auto-accept, train staff to acknowledge orders quickly — it shows the customer their order is in good hands.

  • If you want to manually choose a prep time on every order, focus the device near the pass so the prompt is never missed.
